Gargrave Art Exhibition

Gargrave Village Summer Art Exhibition and Autumn Art & Crafts Exhibition

Welcome to the website for Gargrave Art Exhibitions.  We are a local organisation which puts on 2 super Art Exhibitions in our Village Hall each year, usually in July, and October.

 2018:-  Summer Art  12-15 July

OVER FOR ANOTHER YEAR.  Only a short break before we have to start

organising the ART & CRAFTS Exhibition

The page will be updated shortly, with details of who won the peoples vote for 'Best In Show' and how many pictures we sold this year.  It looks like it's been another great year, despite the Wednesday Preview evening clashing with another big televised event.

A huge thank you goes to the team at Ken Bromley

art materials suppliers for donating this wonderful prize

for the best Young Artist in our show

We have finally finished changing the rules, and they are ALL now listed in our Entry Form.  Basically...

Everyone can now enter up to three pieces of work, and if you are a current paid-up member of Gargrave Village Hall, you can enter for free.

If you aren't a member, the entry fee is the same as before, £2.50 for every piece of work you submit.

All work must still be your own, but we will accept all mediums, including Printmaker processes, photography and computer-generated art, but not limited-edition prints.  (We also reserve the right not to hang pictures at the Committees' discretion).

If you are an exhibitor at Gargrave Exhibitions, thank you, we love having your work on display. But on 25th May 2018, data protection regulations are changing. These changes give you more rights, including the ability to amend or withdraw how we use your data, and to ask us to see, update or remove it.

We collect data from your Entry Form so that we can contact you during the organisation of the event, if we have a query during the shows, and if we sell your work, so that we can send you payments. We carry the information through to the following year to invite you back again.

We never pass on your information (even to a prospective client for your work) without asking you first.

The new Entry Rules for the Summer Exhibition allow you to enter three pieces of work for FREE if you are already a member of Gargrave Village Hall. If you make a free submission, we may check this information with Gargrave Village Hall.

You can ask us to remove your information from our files at any time, but doing so means we will not be able to contact you.

The annual exhibitions, mainly by local artists, include many original paintings, artwork, photographs and sculptures, and the Autumn exhibition also includes limited-edition prints, and a wide variety of hand-made crafts.  Most of the works of art are for sale, there are artist workshops and artists in residence throughout the events, and usually a special exhibition in the side rooms.  This changes depending on availability.

We also invite the local school, Gargrave Church of England Primary School, and pre-school,

Gargrave Pre-School, to include the children's art, and a local florist brightens up the place with some lovely arrangements.

Refreshments are provided by the ladies of the Gargrave WI.

There is Free entry & Free parking at Gargrave Village Hall.

If you would like to exhibit at the Gargrave Art Exhibitions and you live in or near the village, forms will be available from Gargrave Library.  Alternatively, please get in touch with us to be included in our database.

Art & Crafts in Gargrave  -  18th to 21st October 2018

Art & Crafts in Gargrave is another exhibition, this time in AUTUMN.  It is run on a slightly different basis, where artists from near and far can buy space to exhibit as many works as they like, either hanging space for pictures, or table space for other crafts.  Limited-edition prints are also allowed.

It is run to raise money for both the Village Hall and other nominated local charities.  This changes year by year, but we have supported Gargrave Church roof fund, the Gargrave Playground Association, Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue, and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to name a few.

If you are interested in the AUTUMN exhibition, you can contact us via the information at the bottom of the page.

Opening times for the AUTUMN Exhibition are:-
     10:00am  -  6:00pm  (Thursday & Friday),
     10:00am  -  6:00pm  (Saturday),
     10:00am  -  4:00pm  (Sunday).

New Site, New Skills...

In relation to the length of time the Gargrave Art Exhibition has been running, this site is very young indeed but, in the spirit of embracing all mediums, we are learning how to transfer information about our exhibition onto pages on the Internet, and you are very welcome to join us, and give support in any way you wish.

We now have an  ART GROUP  that meets weekly at the Village Hall, and if you are interested in joining us, you can find a new page dedicated to it in the menu at the top.

We hope also to build an on-line community of artists, if you aren't so geographically close to us, so that information can be shared and disseminated quickly and easily, but it's rather like knitting, without any pattern!

But please, don't be put off.  We think it's important to encourage as many artists and as many skills as we possibly can, so even if you aren't computer-savvy, do get in touch.  We will strive to keep you informed in what's going on in, and around Gargrave.

Artist of the Year (Best In Show)

The 2017 winner of the public vote for "Best in Show" was Lesley Woodhouse with her exquisite coloured pencil picture of Peas on a Plate.  Below is Lesley (left) with the lucky purchaser, Shelagh Smith.
